Cello-genic: Appalachian Cello

Full disclosure, I’m biased, but I do think the cello is one of the most beautiful objects ever made by humankind. (Biased, but just a little)

So I absolutely loved this story about West Virginian photographer Michele Coleman who won an award for her photograph of a teen and her cello. Here’s the shot:

Breathtaking, no? Love that chocolatly cello – but you know me, when it comes to varnish I’m partial.

The contest was designed to help capture new images of Appalachan life in an effort to counter negative stereotypes of the area and people (Deliverance, anyone?). I can see why this won. But again, I’m biased. Congrats, Michele.
